Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will I need to add anything to the ingredients of a baking kit?
    All of our baking kits come with all the dry ingredients you’ll need for your bake – just add the fresh ingredients. Typically, this can include butter, eggs, cream, or fresh fruit. If you’re a Bookish Bakes subscriber, you’ll get an email with a shopping list on the day the boxes are posted so you have time to run out and get everything you need to bake!
  • For how long can the baking kits be stored?
    Our baking kits can be stored, unopened, for up to 3 months. Please keep them in a cool, dry place.
  • Can I add a gift note?
    Of course! Just pop it in the Gift Note section on the product page.
  • What’s your return policy?
    Please check this page for our full returns and cancellations policy.
  • Do you ship outside of the UK?
    At this time, we only ship domestically within the UK. We hope to open up Bookish Bakes to our international customers soon! You can keep up to date with the latest from us by following our Instagram or signing up to our mailing list.
  • How do baking subscription boxes work?
    Every month a new baking kit will be sent to your door. Inside will be a pre-loved copy of a classic or modern novel as well as all the dry ingredients you will need to bake a treat inspired by the book – you’ll just need to add any fresh ingredients like butter or fruit.
  • Can I send a Bookish Bakes Subscription as a gift?
    Yes, of course! Our subscriptions are wonderfully unique gifts for book lovers and bakers. All you have to do is pop your recipients’ shipping address in the correct section at checkout and we’ll do the rest!
  • When is payment taken for each box?
    If you’re on a monthly auto-renewing subscription, payments are taken on the date you signed up. If you’ve purchased a set 3, 6, or 12-month subscription, full payment for the subscription period is taken at checkout.
  • What is the cut off date for each month’s box?
    The cut off date to purchase a subscription is the 7th of every month. You can still sign up for a subscription after that, but your first box will arrive the following month. (Example: Jen signs up for a subscription on April 10th, so her first box will be sent on May 15th.)
  • When will I receive my box?
    Classic Baking Kits are shipped within 2-5 working days and are sent via Royal Mail. Bookish Bakes Subscription Boxes are shipped on or around the 15th of every month and are sent via Royal Mail.
  • Can I just get the baking kit without the pre-loved book?
    Yes! When you sign up for a subscription, you have the option to choose whether you’d like a pre-loved copy of the book included every month or just the baking kit.
  • What if I already own the book that comes with the Bookish Bakes Subscription?
    We understand this may happen on occasion, so we’ve set up a book return service. If you already own a copy of the book that arrived in your subscription, you can post it back to us and receive 15% off your next purchase in the Classics Shop. If you don’t wish to return your book, you could also gift it to a friend, donate it to a charity shop, or use it in some other creative way. (Some of these ideas are pretty cool!)
  • Where can I manage/cancel my auto-renewing Bookish Bakes Subscription?
    You can make changes to your subscription, including changing your home address, email address, etc. in your account page under “My Subscriptions”.
